Press Release September 2, 2020
On September 1st, 2020, the Woodstock Agricultural Society received devastating news that one of our barns was on fire. When we arrived on location our Old MacDonald’s barn was engulfed in flames. Thank you to the quick action of the Woodstock Fire Department as well as surrounding community departments they were able to control the blaze. These firefighters worked tirelessly through the night and did an amazing job. Thank you as well to the Woodstock Police for assisting in securing the property as well as capturing the person who was responsible for the fire. We also appreciate the Woodstock EMS for being on scene.
This past weekend we would have celebrated our 183rd Woodstock Fair. There have been many concerned citizens asking if there were animals in the building and we are very grateful there were no animals on the property and no one was harmed due to this fire.
As a nonprofit organization this is a significant loss that will impact us greatly. The barn was a piece of Woodstock History, which included the annual fair and cattle sales. We hope our community can stand behind us in this time to recover from this tragic incident. If you are able to support the Woodstock Agricultural Society and help us be able to rebuild please send an etransfer to firstname.lastname@example.org any donation amount would be greatly appreciated.
