President's Message
Bev Burrill 2011-08-01
Happy 175th Birthday to the Woodstock Fair!! The Woodstock Agricultural Society and its many volunteers are excited to be preparing for this year’s fair! On such an anniversary, one can not help but think of all those who went before us and helped to make this event what it is today. Years ago, animals were walked to the grounds as they did not have the vehicles of today. The aim of our fair is to help teach and bring rural and urban folks together in a friendly competition whether it be animals, baking, sewing, crafts and the many other classes listed throughout this book. This year we are placing old pictures and memories on a disc which will play continuously in our newly renovated Oxford Auditorium. Some may see themselves in earlier years or have fun trying to guess who some people are. We also hope to have memorabilia on display from past years. On Thursday, August 25, 2011 we are planning a short parade from Foodland/Zellers parking lot to the fairgrounds. This will be followed by our official opening. A special thank you goes out to Gord Marshall, the chairperson of our fair committee for this year. The members of the Agricultural Society hope as many people as possible will come and celebrate with us and share your stories and memories of the past. See you at the fair! Bev Burrill
